CURATING GENDER EUPHORIA
This project aims to showcase gender euphoria as a form of community heritage for trans people - exploring common experiences and practices and giving a voice to the trans community through collaborative practice and self-representation.
It was developed in reaction to the distinct lack of trans representation in cultural spaces. Trans narratives are often treated as a tagalong to LGB representation and are generally created by and for the cisgender majority.
Under the current political climate, it is essential to have an opportunity to focus specifically on trans joy.
This toolkit is available for anyone to read, respond to and use in any way they would like. If you would like to share a response or get in contact about the project please email gender.euphoria@outlook.com or message @gender_euphoria on Instagram

Research
This project began as an MA Heritage Studies dissertation project exploring trans representation, outlining gender euphoria as a form of community heritage and creating a practical community resource.
Community Input
For this to be a project rooted in community, it was important for it to be informed by as many trans voices as possible. Trans people working in the cultural sector were interviewed and anonymous surveys were carried out to reach the wider trans community.
Future of the project
There are many possibilities for this project that I wish to explore including:
-
community workshops
-
exhibitions in both queer community spaces and galleries/museums
My main hope is that trans people see and engage with this project. I want to create a space that celebrates trans heritage, incites creativity, and brings trans people together to share their joy.
